The worst flooding on the Ohio River at Cincinnati in 20 years... unless it crests even higher in the next few days. I couldn't resist running down by the Whitewater River that flows into the Ohio. We see the Ohio River out our front window and the Whitewater is behind the house. This photo is pretty close to the intersection of the two rivers. This is a road. A two lane road. I'm looking toward "Lost Bridge" which is not yet completely lost, but the road is.
Here's Lost Bridge behind me. I ran past the barricades to get to the water on the other side.
I kind of like living somewhere where The River matters. I know what flood stage is. Everyone does. We remember the flood of 1997 and have heard stories of the legendary catastrophic flood of 1937. There are marks on some of the buildings in downtown Cincinnati where the water of 1937 left it's stain.
Don't we all want to matter? Leave a mark? Be Legendary. Be Strong Like Water.
Water is gentle and necessary for life and devastating and powerful. It takes the shape. It moves and shifts. Amazing.
For Motivation Monday, where do you need to be gentle and yet powerful? Be Strong Like Water today my friends!
